Taxis
As members of the society, the disabled persons should have access to the different systems such as the transportation system but with consideration to their disability. There are disabled individuals who are unable to drive or use conventional public transport, taxis, and private hire vehicles. Thus, there are taxi services catered to meet the needs of the disabled members of the society. Taxi serves for the disabled individual include door-to-door service provided by licensed taxis which can be hired in the street or at taxi ranks. The taxis intended for the disabled are usually wheelchair accessible as required by the licensing authorities. In addition, some taxis have larger ‘people mover’ or multi-purpose vehicles’ (MPV’s) with access for wheelchair users. As for other disability such as for the hearing impaired people, a hearing aid the new TX1 and TX2 ‘black cab’ taxis have an induction loop fitted.
