Rail - Freight
Freight train or goods train refers to a series of freight cars that are hauled by a locomotive on a railway. Moreover, cargoes are transported between two points, being part of the logistics chain. In addition, freight trains may haul containers, bulk, or cars that are specialised. Many believed that the use of freight transport by rail is more economical as well as more energy efficient compared to that by road. However, freight trains are less flexible than road transport. Further, since it must be transferred from one mode to another in the chain, rail freight is often subject to transhipment costs.
