Rail Freight Operators
Operators of rail freight have used new approaches to improving the sustainability of their industry. They have often lobbied local governments that using rail in distributing goods is good for the economy and the environment. Arguments they use cite industry studies that indicate lesser fuel consumption, less harmful carbon emissions and reduced traffic on the roads by doing away with heavy goods vehicles or HGVs. Moving goods by rail is the cheapest form of freight compared to other modes of distribution but it is definitely slower. Operators of rails are investing heavily in new infrastructure like locomotives, wagons and systems to further improve efficiency and lower costs some more.
