Inter Modal
For a country’s economic growth, an efficient transport system should be established and structured. International trade heavily depends on freight transports such as inter-modal systems for the delivery of consumer goods and raw materials. In Wikipedia, inter-modal freight transport is characterized as the involvement of freight transportation in a container or vehicle using multiple modes. These modes include rail, ship and trucking. Containers used for inter-modal transports vary in size and measurement. These are usually made of steel and can be double-stacked during transport. Handling equipment for these containers includes transtrainers, gantry cranes and grappler lifts. The success of safe and efficient delivery of goods through the inter-modal systems depends largely on the method of cargo handling and security.
