Charities
What are transport charities?
Transport charities are philanthropic institutions dedicated to promoting community development and improving transportation systems. Recognising the important role of transportation in economic development, many of today’s transport charities focus their effort on providing sustainable transportation to underdeveloped communities and poor regions.

Transport charity organisations are usually funded and supported by governments and/or private transportation companies. And their charity activities may vary from promoting road safety and providing driver and mechanical education, to coordinating with the government sector to provide cost-efficient public transport services. The scope of service provided by transport charities may differ between organisations, with some transport charities focusing their effort on promoting transportation that benefit both health and the environment and pitching for improved transportation for people with disabilities.
