Ship chandler is a company or person(s) who sells and supplies the required equipment and hardware tools for the shipping industry. Generally, products that can be found on a traditional sailing ship includes tar, turpentine, rosin, linseed oil, tallow, varnish, twine, rope, hemp, paper among other tools. As for commercial sailing ships which abound the seas these days, items in a chandler may include maintenance supplies, cleaning compounds, rope and the ship’s food supplies. Since these commercial ships are fuel-powered, a chandler has to upgrade its stock according to specific requirements of the shipping industry.
